No ordinary lavastone – the re-fired surface is aesthetically unique with hard wearing, ceramic like qualities.
Quarried from the slopes of Mount Etna, this lavastone (basalt), with its jet black finish, is an incredible new material for the contemporary specifier.
Via a patented process of re-firing — whereby the surface of the naturally grey basalt stone is returned to its original molten lava state — the stone takes on a deep black lustre, a patina that is extremely heat and scratch resistant, and which defies weathering.
FORMATS & FINISHES:
Etna Lavastone is a dimension stone, cut initially as a block from the quarry, then sliced with diamond saw into slabs which can then be further cut into the required final size format.
The natural surface Etna Grey can be finished in a variety of ways, including diamond sawn, flamed, brushed and honed.
The finish of Re-Fired material is dependent on the length of time and temperature of the firing process.
Etna Grey (natural finish without re-firing)
Etna Re-Fired Black (smooth ‘la Nera’)
Etna Re-Fired Black (textured ‘la Roccia’)
Etna *Glass Fusion (screen printed with recycled powdered glass).
NOTE: *Glass fusion can be applied to both ‘Re-Fired’ Black (smooth) and ‘Grey’ Etna Lavastone.

Etna Grey and Etna Re-Fired Lavastone can be cut to almost any shape you require with thicknesses from 10mm.
Full Slab sizes: typically 3000x800mm
Other slab and tile sizes available.
Suitable for interior and exterior use. Due to it’s volcanic origins and re-firing process, the stone and finish is very resistant to heat:
